Rodri: secrets of triumph without social media

Rodri recalls Alvaro Morata's funny advice and shares his decision to avoid social media before winning the Ballon d'Or race.

The recipient of the prestigious 2024 Ballon d'Or, Rodri, fondly reminisces about the words of his Spanish national team partner, Alvaro Morata. Morata once told Rodri, "You're not very smart. If you had a social media presence, you could win the Ballon d'Or!"

Having achieved success, Rodri responded with a warm smile: "As soon as I won the dazzling trophy, I sent him a message: "Look, a Ballon d'Or and no social media."

Prior to this moment, the midfielder of Manchester City had already explained why he chose to stay away from social platforms.

"I made this decision at a young age, even before social media became mainstream," he reveals. "I already had a circle of friends that was sufficient for me. I preferred spending time in the park, socializing with friends on the street, and I didn't need virtual acquaintances at all."
