New Regulations and Intrigues of the Intercontinental Cup in Qatar

An exciting Intercontinental Cup final

An exciting Intercontinental Cup final will take place at the legendary venue in Doha, where "Real" will meet a new rival.

On December 19, the grand Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, will host the prestigious clash for the Intercontinental Cup in a revamped format. This arena previously saw the best national teams compete for the 2022 World Cup title.

Now, the annual club tournament acts as a successor to the former Club World Cup. Under the new structure, the program includes five matches: the first two games take place at the home venues of host teams, while the concluding fixtures move to Qatar.

Madrid's "Real" has already secured its spot in the final match, due to their victory in the UEFA Champions Cup. Their opponent will be determined on December 14. It will be either the Egyptian "Al Ahly" or the winner of the pair consisting of the Mexican "Pachuca" and the new Copa Libertadores holder (either Brazilian "Botafogo" or "Atletico Mineiro"). All contenders are expected to undergo preliminary trials within the new format.
