The prosecution insisted on a four-year prison term for South Korean national team player Hwang Ui-Jo, accused of unlawfully recording intimate scenes with partners without their consent.
The videos were shared on social media in June 2023 by his fiancée, who attempted to blackmail him. She was sentenced to three years for blackmail. However, prosecutors decided to continue pursuing the athlete, asserting that he filmed content without proper authorization.
During the trial, Hwang's lawyer stated that the 31-year-old forward admitted his guilt. Hwang, who has previously played 62 matches for South Korea's team and scored 19 goals, is currently playing for the Turkish club "Alanyaspor". He has previously represented the teams "Nottingham Forest", "Norwich", "Bordeaux", and "Olympiacos".
