How the Result of the Match Between Zenit and Lokomotiv Will Affect the Championship Race in RPL

Andrey Chervichenko commented on potential

Andrey Chervichenko commented on potential difficulties Zenit might face in the title race after the match with Lokomotiv.

Former Spartak president Andrey Chervichenko shared with Match TV his views on how a negative outcome in the 13th round RPL clash with Lokomotiv might complicate Zenit's path to supremacy this season.

Zenit head coach Sergey Semak earlier stated that striker Maxim Glushenkov is likely to miss the contest with Lokomotiv. The encounter will occur this Sunday, October 27, in St. Petersburg, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

"Glushenkov is, of course, skilled, but he is not the team's linchpin. Even in his absence, the club has secured victories and titles multiple times. He's a definite asset, but I wouldn't say that Zenit's play will crumble without him like a house of cards. I prefer how Lokomotiv is performing this season; the team is intriguing, and if inspired, they might outplay any opponent. On the contrary, Zenit will be anxious since a failure against Lokomotiv, combined with a positive result for Krasnodar, could greatly complicate life for the St. Petersburg team. Although I'm not too confident in Musaev and whether Krasnodar will maintain the championship race to the end, if the lead is substantial, they will hold it," Chervichenko stated.
