The former coach of «Lokomotiv» and the Russian national team, Yuri Semin, voiced his opinion on the unclear role of Tomas Amaral as a key manager in «Spartak».

On Sunday, the club announced parting ways with Amaral, who had been the sports director since late 2023. The club's general director, Oleg Malyshev, mentioned that there is already a candidate for the now-vacant position.

— It's difficult to analyze and evaluate Amaral's work in «Spartak». It remains a mystery what specific tasks he had and what role he played in the team's decision-making. Everything was shrouded in secrecy. It's unclear whether they're looking for a Russian specialist. However, I like when the sports director and head coach work in tandem, forming a unified whole. They should come and go together if they don't fulfill their duties. Then there is palpable unity, and responsibility can be allocated. Not just punishing the coach when the team loses two matches, although the sports director also was involved in setting the club's tasks, — Semin said.
