Ukraine Draws with Georgia: Sergey Rebrov's Analysis

Sergey Rebrov reviews the tense

Sergey Rebrov reviews the tense Nations League match against "Georgia" and prepares for the next clash with "Albania".

The head coach of the «Ukraine» national team, Sergey Rebrov, shared his thoughts on the outcome of the Nations League game, where his team ended the match in a draw with «Georgia» (1:1).

- What words can you offer players after such a tough match?

- I extend my gratitude to the guys for their dedication. Performing under such challenging field conditions posed a significant test. Yet, with such a high rate of errors, it's difficult to play effectively. Especially against an opponent like «Georgia», having massive home supporters. Unfortunately, we couldn't hold the result. We had the chance to snatch a victory, scoring at the end. We have what we have. We are now preparing for another crucial game against «Albania».

- What was the main factor in this game? How did the halves differ?

- We scored relatively quickly. Today, the result was paramount, and the players tried to maintain their advantage. Probably, that's why the mistakes increased, and we moved into a deeper defensive position. Players understand which country they are playing for and give their all. But the outcome heavily influenced their actions. Once more, we were up against «Georgia» on their home ground with vocal crowd support. In my view, today Georgians played with a different motivation than in the previous encounter.

- What did you advise Mikhail Mudryk in the second half?

- Mikhail did a lot of intensive work. I gave him tips in certain moments. He is crucial for us; his speed aids the offense. There was a question of his readiness after such a demanding game.

- How do you rate Efim Konoplya's performance against Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

- Everyone can see that Khvicha is a player of the highest level, individually strong. Not only Konoplya handled this challenge but also the teammates who assisted him, as it's tough to play one-on-one with Kvaratskhelia.

- There were spectators from both Georgia and Ukraine. What would you say to the fans?

- I am particularly thankful to the Georgian fans; they sang an interesting song, which is truly important. I have always held the Georgian people in high regard; I have many friends here. I'm grateful for the stance of the Georgians, who sincerely support Ukraine, as was vividly demonstrated today. From the war's onset, we felt significant support from Georgia.
