Reflections of the Honorary RFU President on Matches with Lower Class Teams

Honorary head of RFU Vyacheslav

Honorary head of RFU Vyacheslav Koloskov clarified the importance of games with lower-level opponents. Key achievements - increasing points in FIFA rankings and high attendance.

Vyacheslav Koloskov, who holds an honorary position in the RFU leadership, shared his opinion on the benefits of encounters between the Russian national team and teams that are lower in class.

"There are two key achievements - the national team is involved in the game and gains points in the international FIFA ranking. Another achievement is attracting spectators. 25-35 thousand fans in the stands prove that the RFU's actions in organizing such matches are justified," Koloskov shares his thoughts.

It is important to note that in November, the team led by Valery Karpin competed at home against "Brunei" (11:0) and "Syria" (4:0). In 2024, the Russian national team played five friendly matches, winning with an impressive goal difference of 26:0. A possible match with the Uruguayan national team in November 2025 has already been raised.
