Victor Osimhen: New Beginning at "Galatasaray" and Interest from "Arsenal"

Victor Osimhen shows excellent performances

Victor Osimhen shows excellent performances at "Galatasaray", keeping himself on the radar of European giants including "Arsenal".

Victor Osimhen has made a remarkable start in Turkey, attracting attention from top European teams such as "Arsenal", despite not securing a transfer from "Napoli" last summer. The Nigerian striker is currently considered one of the best in the world, possibly only trailing Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

It's no surprise that Victor continues to be linked with a return to Europe's top five leagues following his stellar performances for "Galatasaray" this season. His burgeoning status took a hit when he joined the Super Lig club on loan at the start of the season, but he's showcased that he remains a real threat with his prolific displays.

"I think he would be a brilliant option for 'Arsenal' as his style is different from the current strikers they have," remarked former 'Gunners' defender Bacary Sagna. "This sort of striker — dynamic, physically imposing, and versatile — could be the missing piece that turns 'Arsenal's' attack from good to great."

Although Mikel Arteta's side would need to loosen their purse strings to acquire Osimhen, the benefits of having such a proven forward at the 'Emirates' far outweigh any other arguments.

Osimhen makes 'Arsenal' stronger and better equipped to compete for Premier League and Champions League trophies. Absolutely. And here's why. Osimhen immediately enhances the team's one-paced attack. To be fair, 'Arsenal' has turned a corner recently after a miserable start to November. The team couldn't win in three straight matches against 'Newcastle United', 'Inter Milan', and 'Chelsea', scoring just once throughout that series. However, the 'Gunners' have been impressive in their last two matches, netting eight goals.

While the recent results are impressive, they only paper over 'Arsenal's' overall struggles this season, especially upfront. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard have all been used as the team's main striker in different matches this season. The key point is that none of them are natural center-forwards. Lacking a real center-forward has meant the team often relied on wingers, which allowed strong opponents to exploit openings by pressing high, knowing the 'Gunners' wouldn't be able to capitalize on spaces left once the wingers are neutralized.

Osimhen's presence immediately diversifies 'Arsenal's' attack and adds the dynamism needed to compete with the big teams. Osimhen is a superior goalscorer compared to Havertz. Another reason 'Arsenal' should break the bank for Osimhen is his greater competence over the team's existing attacking options. While Havertz has been decent in Arteta's experiment of playing him as a false nine, his limitations have been apparent, especially against well-organized defenses.

In terms of stats, Havertz and Osimhen have similar numbers this season. Both have scored eight goals, although Osimhen achieved this tally in eight fewer games than the German and boasts four assists to Havertz's one. Both players share many similar attributes, especially Havertz's aerial ability. But the quality gap between them is as clear as night and day. Osimhen excels in many aspects: he has the speed to break behind, presses better, and is more prolific, which is exactly what 'Arsenal' needs to improve their attack.

'Arsenal' needs a world-class striker like Osimhen to compete for major trophies. 'Arsenal' has come very close to challenging 'Manchester City' recently, finishing five and two points behind in the past two seasons. However, their Champions League performances have been lacking, as they exited at the quarter-final stage last year.

To finally step up from being a 'nearly team', the 'Gunners' require a world-class striker, and Osimhen fits that bill perfectly. He guarantees goals and has a knack for big games. Arteta and his team haven't won major silverware since 2020 and might continue to fall short unless they bolster the squad with a proven scorer. The 'Gunners' already have a great squad with a talented young core. Osimhen could be the final piece of the puzzle for 'Arsenal' to contest for major trophies.
