Kelechi Iheanacho Leads Sevilla to Victory in Spanish Cup

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho helped Sevilla secure a 3-1 win over UE Olot in the Spanish Cup, scoring his third goal of the tournament.

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho continued his impressive form in the Spanish Cup, scoring as "Sevilla" secured a 3-1 victory over "UE Olot". Iheanacho was included in the starting line-up for this second-round fixture, where "Sevilla" traveled to face the lower league side.

The Nigerian striker linked effectively with Jesús Navas in "Sevilla's" attack but struggled to break through "Olot's" defense until a penalty was awarded. Before "Sevilla's" spot-kick, "Olot" had a chance to lead with their own penalty but failed to convert. At the other end, following a handball incident by an "Olot" defender in the box, Gonzalo Montiel smoothly slotted home the penalty to put "Sevilla" ahead, marking the only goal of the first half.

In the second half, the La Liga side upped their game, scoring two well-taken goals. Just three minutes after the restart, Juanlu Sánchez doubled "Sevilla's" advantage, underlining their dominance. In the 73rd minute, "Super Eagles" forward Iheanacho capitalized on a superb cross from the right flank, tipping the ball in to make it 3-0, marking his third goal of the competition following a brace against "Las Rozas" in October.

"Olot" managed to snatch a consolation goal through an Oriol Ayala header in added time, but their journey in the competition ended there. Iheanacho's goal will certainly boost his confidence, as he is yet to score in La Liga since joining "Sevilla" after the expiration of his contract with "Leicester City". The 28-year-old has also been involved in transfer speculation, with reports in Spain suggesting "Sevilla" might consider selling him in the January transfer window.
