Zenit from Saint Petersburg has initiated an appeal to the Referee Expert Commission at the RFU president regarding two controversial moments in the 18th-round RPL match against the Akron team from Togliatti. This information was sourced from the RFU communication service.

The game, held on December 7 in Saint Petersburg, concluded with the guests' victory at 2:1. Zenit has requested the ESC to review the disallowed goals by Mateo Cassierra and Luciano at the 69th minute of the game and in injury time. Referee Vladimir Moskalev annulled both goals due to handball involvement by Andrey Mostovoy and Nino, respectively.

After 18 matches, Zenit with 39 points ranks second in the RPL standings, trailing Krasnodar due to additional criteria.
