"Super Eagles" midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru played a pivotal role in "Lazio's" 3-1 triumph over "Ajax" at the "Johan Cruyff Arena" on Thursday in the Europa League. Dele-Bashiru commenced the match for the Italian side and was integral to their positive play from the outset.

"Lazio's" early dominance yielded rewards in the 12th minute when Loum Tchaouna opened the scoring, granting the visitors a lead. "Ajax," despite exerting sustained pressure, failed to find an equaliser by halftime, leaving the Italian side in control as the teams entered the break. The "Dutch" side, however, started strongly in the second half, levelling the score in the 47th minute through Burkina Faso winger Bertrand Traoré. Dele-Bashiru responded swiftly, restoring "Lazio's" lead in the 52nd minute with a composed finish.

The Nigerian midfielder's goal came at a crucial juncture to regain control of the match. Later, Tchaouna turned provider, assisting Pedro, who sealed the victory for "Lazio," securing three vital points on the road. This marked Dele-Bashiru’s second goal of the Europa League campaign, following his strike against "Dynamo Kyiv" in September.

Dele-Bashiru's performance numbers were impressive: the 23-year-old remained on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes, netted a goal, successfully completed two of his three dribble attempts, had 47 touches, distributed two key passes, and recorded an impressive 91% passing accuracy by completing 30 out of 33 passes. He also delivered one accurate long pass and registered one shot on target. In duels, Dele-Bashiru demonstrated his tenacity, winning two out of six ground duels and succeeding in his only aerial contest.
