Russian powerhouse "CSKA Moscow" has announced the departure of seasoned "Super Falcons" forward Francisca Ordega upon the conclusion of her contract.
The 31-year-old Nigerian athlete joined "CSKA Moscow" in August 2021, signing an initial two-and-a-half-year deal with Russia's 2020 champions.
Prior to her transfer, she had a brief stint with "Levante UD" in Spain, where she inked a three-year contract just five months earlier.
Francisca Ordega made a profound impact at "CSKA Moscow", appearing in 84 matches and scoring 29 goals along with 20 assists.
Her achievements were pivotal in securing two Russian Cup trophies and four Super League silver medals for the club, as well as clinching the national Super Cup.
The well-traveled and extensively experienced Ordega previously played for a variety of clubs, including Russia's "WFC Rossiyanka", Sweden's "Piteå IF", the "Washington Spirit" in the USA, Australia's "Sydney FC", "Atletico de Madrid Femenino", and the Chinese side "Shanghai Shengli", where she had a brief spell in Asia.
Her move to China etched her name in African women's soccer history, making her the first female footballer from the continent to compete across five continents: Africa, Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia.
She clinched four Africa Women's Cup of Nations titles with the "Super Falcons", starting with her first victory in 2010 and subsequent triumphs in 2014, 2016, and 2018. Representing Nigeria at every international level, Ordega has earned over 45 caps for the "Super Falcons" and gained invaluable experience from competing in three Women's World Cup tournaments in 2011, 2015, and 2019.
