Kyiv's «Dynamo» suffered a crushing defeat in the Europa League against «Ferencváros»

In a tense Europa League match, Kyiv's «Dynamo» suffered a major defeat against Hungary's «Ferencváros», landing at the bottom of the standings.

With high hopes for the first points, «Dynamo» entered the fourth round Europa League match against Hungary’s «Ferencváros». However, by the 17th minute, Kyiv's team was down a player as Dubinchak was shown a straight red card for a foul on Makrekis.

Immediately, the Hungarian side seized the initiative. Dynamo's goalkeeper Buschan made an impressive save, deflecting Borges’ powerful shot headed for the crossbar. He further denied Abu Fani’s effort aimed at the far corner.

However, Kyiv didn’t solely defend. In the 36th minute, within seconds, the crossbar twice saved «Ferencváros» after efforts from Kabaiev and Vanat.

At the end of the first half, both teams created opportunities to open the scoring. Buschan parried Kadi’s strike, and Ramirez, trying for a rebound, shot over the goal. Minutes later, Karavayev, with Voloshyn and Vanat, executed a skillful play, but the shot again went over the bar.

In added time, Kadi precisely targeted the far corner, and Buschan once more showed skill, saving the shot.

The second half began entirely in «Ferencváros»' control. Buschan again displayed his talent with two crucial saves from Rommens and Kadi. However, after Kabaiev’s mistake, Varga was fortunate, scoring a top-corner goal. Just two minutes later, «Ferencváros» struck again, with Zakariassen skillfully turning and finishing into the corner after Mihavko's deflection.

Afterward, «Dynamo» lacked the energy for counterplay, and «Ferencváros» methodically added to the scoreline. Varga sealed a brace, nodding in following a cross. The final 4-0 score was set by Saldanha, who, within seconds of coming on as a substitute, outplayed Buschan.

This was not only Kyiv’s first game under Shovkovskyi conceding four goals but also knocked «Dynamo» to the bottom of the Europa League standings.
