Delay in the Construction of Stadium for 'Inter' and 'Milan' in Milan

Milan's Mayor Beppe Sala announced

Milan's Mayor Beppe Sala announced that the construction of a new sports complex on the site of 'San Siro' will be delayed if the arena's renovation project is approved.

The Mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, highlighted that the creation of a new stadium for 'Inter' and 'Milan' on the site of former 'San Siro' may take years if the current renovation project of the arena gets approval.

Five years ago, the city's clubs proposed demolishing 'San Siro' (also known as 'Giuseppe Meazza Stadium') to construct a new, modern stadium, utilizing the land area allocated for parking. This proposal was rejected, and the clubs started exploring the option of establishing two separate arenas in the suburbs of Milan, in Rozzano and San Donato Milanese.

However, now both clubs have returned to the original concept, which involves purchasing the land surrounding the current stadium. The project is not yet approved. It is expected that the agreement to purchase the site will be concluded by the end of 2025, while the completion of construction is projected not earlier than 2030.
