Wayne Rooney eyes new BBC 'Match of the Day' role after Plymouth exit
Wayne Rooney is in talks for a potential BBC job, potentially earning up to £200,000 annually after his departure from Plymouth.
The deal between "Juventus" and "Manchester United" may include a player exchange and Amorim's first victory.
Serie A powerhouse "Juventus" is willing to propose "Manchester United" former Premier League figures Douglas Luiz and Danilo in return for Joshua Zirkzee in January, according to sources. The "Red Devils" have had a dreadful start to the new Premier League season, with Erik ten Hag losing his position after securing only three wins in the first nine matches. New manager Ruben Amorim conducted his first training session with "Manchester United" less than a fortnight ago, following interim head Ruud van Nistelrooy who added four points to their tally over two games at the helm.
Amorim's first game in charge ended in a 1-1 draw against "Ipswich Town" on Sunday, with Marcus Rashford’s opener negated by a long-range deflected shot from Omari Hutchinson. "Manchester United" is currently 12th in the Premier League standings, with only "Everton", "Crystal Palace", and "Southampton" scoring fewer goals than the "Red Devils" this season. Rashford has two Premier League goals this season, while Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee both tally one, with the latter facing criticism after his summer move from "Bologna".
Reports suggest that INEOS and some members of the "Manchester United" board consider Zirkzee a ‘lost cause’, planning to offload him in January. The Netherlands international has attracted interest from several Serie A clubs, including "Juventus", with the "Old Lady" now reportedly set to escalate their interest come January. Initially, an Italian site, Calciomercato, claimed that talks between "Juventus" and "Manchester United" ‘could commence to bring’ Zirkzee to Turin, with former "Manchester City" defender Danilo and ex-"Aston Villa" midfielder Luiz as possible trade elements.
It is noted that "Juventus'" priority with Danilo's transfer might not be so much the financial gain from his move as saving on his wages, and any potential transfer for Luiz is currently deemed ‘utopian’. A possible loan swap back to the Premier League or in exchange for Zirkzee might be on the table for the "Juventus" duo.
Amorim, capitalizing on his second match as "Manchester United"’s manager, overcame a 2-1 deficit to beat "Bode/Glimt" 3-2 in the Europa League group stage on Thursday. He held a pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the "Red Devils’" fixture against "Everton" at Old Trafford. When queried about Mason Mount, Amorim told reporters: “He is working really hard. You have to understand the human behind it. He wants this very much. That’s the most crucial aspect. He proved to everyone he’s a talented player. He was a European champion. We have great faith in him. He must stay in shape. All the guys on the team are quality players. They had to improve. He did an excellent job. You see moments and details where you can spot Mason Mount as a true footballer. We strongly believe in him. I especially have high faith in Mason Mount.”
Amorim was also asked what he expects against "Everton", to which he responded: “Win. I am hoping for a victory. It's going to be a different match with lots of fighting, long balls, and second balls. “A quality coach who understands the league and the current moment of the opponents. We need to have possession because we have limited recovery time and need to rotate the team. I am hoping for a win and to see different aspects in my team, improving as we did from "Ipswich" to now with "Everton", without training. I expect to see new developments.”
