Salah Responds to Carragher After Victory Over "Manchester City"

Mohamed Salah responded to Jamie Carragher after "Liverpool's" triumph over "Manchester City", while Carragher shifted focus to his colleague Roy Keane.

"Liverpool" winger Mohamed Salah gave a brief reply to Jamie Carragher during a live Sky Sports interview after aiding his side to a 2-0 win over "Manchester City"... only for Carragher to turn it into a jibe of his own at Roy Keane's expense.

Earlier in the week, Carragher had criticized Salah for speaking out about his contract situation at "Liverpool," noting that Salah had yet to be presented with a new deal. The former "Reds" defender said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football: "I must say I am very disappointed with Mo Salah. "Liverpool" have "Real Madrid" midweek and "Man City" at the weekend. That's the story right now." Carragher added: "If he keeps putting comments out, his agent puts out cryptic messages, that is selfish. That is thinking about themselves and not the football club."

Salah was awarded the man of the match against "City" for his performance, setting up Cody Gakpo's early opener and sealing the win with a perfectly-placed penalty in the second half. Virgil van Dijk was with Salah post-match, insisting the award should go to Salah, and asked who decided his teammate deserved the title, after learning there was some debate over the recipient. Upon being informed it was awarded by Gary Neville, Van Dijk turned to Salah and said: "Oh, Carragher wouldn't give it to you." Salah replied, "Oh, he wouldn't give it to me," breaking into a smile.

Sky's coverage threw back to the studio, where Carragher immediately diverted attention to Keane, remarking: "I'll see him in the car park!" This prompted a slightly embarrassed smile from the former "Manchester United" midfielder, who last week was caught on camera telling a belligerent "Ipswich" fan: "Wait in the car park, we can have a discussion. I'll wait for you in the car park." All in good fun, of course.
