Analyzing WhoScored ratings to highlight the weakest players of Premier League clubs in 2024/25. Find out who made it to this list.
Here is the worst player for every Premier League club in 2024/25. We are using WhoScored average match ratings, so shout at them, not us. We have f**ked off the minutes threshold and are only including players with at least six appearances and one start.
Arsenal: Gabriel Jesus (6.23) Jesus has never been renowned for having The Scoring Touch but any ability to score appears to have left him. He only has 229 minutes under his belt in the Premier League and has zero goals, zero assists and four yellow cards, which is kind of impressive.
Aston Villa: Jaden Philogene (5.84) Philogene was sent off after only 32 minutes against Fulham on October 19 and Villa are remarkably without a domestic victory since.
Bournemouth: Julian Araujo (6.11) Araujo has failed to adapt to life in the Premier League after a fairly underwhelming loan spell at Las Palmas last season. Go figure.
Brentford: Yehor Yarmoliuk (6.20) Yarmoliuk has nine Premier League appearances this season, which is very surprising, starting only once. His lone start came in a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham and his highest match rating in the top flight this term came on that afternoon.
Brighton: Evan Ferguson (6.19) Ferguson was the best thing since sliced bread and destined for a £100million transfer this time last year. Now he can barely get a kick and is available for loan in January. He has one goal from one start and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea: Mykhaylo Mudryk (6.18) Not happening for Mudryk at Chelsea, is it? It’s safe to say his move to Stamford Bridge was a blessing in disguise for Arsenal, who won with Leandro Trossard.
Crystal Palace: Nathaniel Clyne (6.05) Clyne has started three times in the Premier League this season and is undoubtedly past his best. According to WhoScored, his best league match this season was against Chelsea (6.49) and his worst was against Leicester City (5.52).
Everton: Beto (6.18) Beto has been a tragic signing for Everton, who need something different up top (and in the dugout).
Fulham: Issa Diop (6.35) Fulham were very impressive at Spurs and might have clinched a winner had goalscorer Tom Cairney not been sent off. The Scot is not eligible here as all 10 of his appearances have come off the bench. That means our man is Diop, who is filling in for Joachim Andersen.
Ipswich: Wes Burns (6.09) Burns has been a bad luck charm for Ipswich this season, assisting once in 10 league appearances. He didn’t play in their only win at Spurs and came on for an injured Chiedozie Ogbene when 2-0 up in the first half at Brentford. They were 3-2 down (in-game) 16 minutes later.
Leicester: Boubakary Soumare (6.05) Three yellows from as many starts is far from ideal.
Liverpool: Conor Bradley (6.26) Liverpool are on fire this term but it had to be someone. Sorry, Conor.
Man City: Kyle Walker (6.35) Walker has had a difficult year. And when we say difficult, we are politely saying he has been rubbish.
Man Utd: Manuel Ugarte (6.37) Joshua Zirkzee’s brace against Everton has saved him. Instead, Man Utd’s worst player this season has been their marquee summer signing, who has three starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
Newcastle: Joe Willock (6.31) He might be Newcastle’s worst player this season according to the algorithm, but Willock is a very important midfielder when fully fit, which is not often enough.
Nottingham Forest: Taiwo Awoniyi (6.07) Overachieving Forest wouldn’t be in Our League if it wasn’t for Awoniyi’s goals in 2022/23. And in the blink of an eye, he is no longer a regular starter and playing second fiddle to Chris Wood.
Southampton: Ryan Fraser (5.99) Three starts, three substitute appearances, zero goals, zero assists, zero yellow cards, one red card. We do have some sympathy for his assist total. That disallowed goal at Brighton was a farce.
Tottenham: Timo Werner (6.40) Turbo Timo has a decent three assists but no goals in the Premier League this season.
West Ham: Vladimir Coufal (6.15) Rightly lost his place in Julen Lopetegui’s starting XI after the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He has come off the bench five times after starting West Ham’s opening two Barclays fixtures.
Wolves: Rodrigo Gomes (5.95) In seven Our League appearances this term, 21-year-old winger Gomes has zero goal contributions.
