Man Utd Considering Osimhen Purchase in January

Man Utd may trigger Osimhen's Napoli contract release clause in January. Find out more.

"Man Utd" is planning to make an offer for "Napoli" striker Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window, according to reports from Italy. The "Red Devils" have faced difficulties in scoring goals in the Premier League this season, with Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, and Joshua Zirkzee failing to meet expectations. Rashford and Zirkzee each scored twice in a 4-0 victory over "Everton" recently, as Ruben Amorim won his first home league match in charge of the "Red Devils".

But "Man Utd" then failed to score against "Arsenal" in a 2-0 defeat, followed by a 3-2 loss to "Nottingham Forest" on Saturday, with Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes scoring for the "Red Devils". There has been speculation about adding a forward in the winter, and Zirkzee is reportedly being targeted by several Serie A clubs on loan.

Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at the Turkish side "Galatasaray" from "Napoli", is a player "Man Utd" could acquire in January. The Nigerian international has tallied 10 goals and four assists across 13 appearances in all competitions since joining "Galatasaray" in the summer. Now, "Il Mattino" claims that "Man Utd" could be the club to activate Osimhen’s €75m release clause in January.

Italian giants "Juventus" have also set their sights on the Nigerian, while "Paris Saint-Germain", like "Man Utd", are keen on a winter transfer with "Napoli" planning to immediately reinvest the funds.

Following speculation about a potential transfer, "Napoli" sporting director Giovanni Manna stated on Sunday: "Nobody has reached out to us. Osimhen is a "Napoli" player on loan at "Galatasaray". We talk about this too much, but currently, nothing is happening, and we are focused on the pitch."

However, "Man Utd" supporters might treat these reports with caution after Italian journalist Paolo del Genio called the rumors a lie. Del Genio said: "I'll boldly assert that this is a mere market deception. There's no chance that the striker from "Manchester United" could land in Antonio Conte’s camp amid possible negotiations with "Napoli" for Victor Osimhen."
