Chelsea's Plans to Bring Marc Guehi Back from Crystal Palace

Marc Guehi's return to Chelsea

Chelsea is developing a strategy to bring Marc Guehi back from Crystal Palace in exchange for Trevoh Chalobah.

According to sources, "Chelsea" has devised a grand plan to sign the star of "Crystal Palace" and England international Marc Guehi in a swap deal soon. Guehi, who rose through the academy ranks at "Chelsea", was transferred to "Crystal Palace" for approximately £18 million in 2021, having not appeared in a single Premier League match for his boyhood club.

Over time, the 24-year-old center-back has established himself as one of the top defenders in the Premier League, attracting significant attention with his performances. In recent months, he has been linked with a move to "Liverpool", though "Newcastle" also set their sights on him but had their offers rejected in the summer.

Following "Newcastle's" failure to secure Guehi, "Chelsea" intensified their efforts to attract the defender, especially as the team was weakened by injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile. Reports suggest that Guehi is also inclined to return to "Stamford Bridge".

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano noted that "Chelsea" boss Enzo Maresca confirmed the club's interest in Guehi. "Enzo Maresca confirms the exclusive story of Marc Guehi being on Chelsea's wish list: 'I like Marc, for sure, but he is not our player.' 'But I like the central defenders we have. It's a normal situation when you have injuries that speculation arises,' Maresca commented.

"Chelsea" defender Trevoh Chalobah, currently on loan at "Crystal Palace", plays a crucial role in "Chelsea's" strategy to sign Guehi, according to a report from the Daily Mail, though there are challenges to overcome.

"Chelsea" is interested in swapping Chalobah for the captain of "Crystal Palace", but the deal may face hurdles due to salary issues. If "Crystal Palace" even considers including Chalobah in the deal, there are doubts whether they can reach a personal agreement with him. Chalobah reportedly earns around £80,000 per week, and while this fits "Crystal Palace's" financial plan, there are concerns the club may not manage an increased sum if an uplift is sought upon his transfer. "Crystal Palace" is open to signing Chalobah permanently but does not wish to include Guehi.
