Nuno Espirito Santo expresses confidence in Taiwo Awoniyi's role and comeback potential ahead of the crucial clash with Southampton.

Taiwo Awoniyi has been at the heart of transfer discussions, with "West Ham" reportedly showing interest in the "Super Eagles" forward. "The Hammers" are allegedly considering Awoniyi as a prospective inclusion in their ranks, due to Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen being out for the upcoming season because of injuries, while Niclas Fullkrug is expected to miss several weeks as well.

Despite the chatter, "Forest" head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has shown steadfast belief in the 27-year-old's aptitude to regain top form. Ahead of Sunday's significant league match against "Southampton", Nuno praised the crucial part Awoniyi persists in playing at the club. "Taiwo came on late during the game (against "Liverpool"), having shown strong performance in the prior match against "Luton". We hope he advances in his fitness level because we know his talent and the quality he possesses. He is a goalscorer," stated the Portuguese.

"He consistently makes an impact; he consistently creates opportunities. That is what can be said about Taiwo. Are there rumors? He can definitely return to that previous level. Yes, definitely. Because he demonstrates it every day. He works extraordinarily hard, and we can't ignore the importance Taiwo holds for "Forest" and the legacy he's built for the club."

The Nigerian international has witnessed his role in "Forest"'s offensive lineup diminish, with in-form Chris Wood now taking the starting spot. Awoniyi has scored only one Premier League goal this season across sixteen appearances, having started in just two of those matches.
