Marcus Rashford in Talks with Barcelona for Transfer

Marcus Rashford move to Barcelona

Marcus Rashford has agreed to switch to Barcelona and is willing to wait for the club to clear out wage bill space.

According to sources, "Manchester United" forward Marcus Rashford has reached an agreement to transfer to "Barcelona" and is prepared to wait for the Spanish club to make room in its financial roster. Rashford is available for transfer this month after losing trust under the "Manchester United" head coach, Ruben Amorim.

His last appearance was on December 12 against "Viktoria Plzen" in the "Europa League", and he is expected to go on loan in January. His £325,000 weekly wage turned out to be not the only criterion for potential clubs in Europe. "Red Devils" owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has set an ambitious price of £50 million, making a permanent move less likely.

While "Borussia Dortmund" and "AC Milan" have shown interest in the 27-year-old player, it is "Barcelona" believed to be leading the race for his signature. Hansi Flick’s team is also interested in acquiring Rashford; however, their financial situation complicates the deal.

It was reported on Monday that "Barcelona"'s inability to part with Ansu Fati is delaying their talks on Rashford, paving the way for "Dortmund"'s approach. The Spanish outlet Sport reports Rashford is a "priority target" for "Barcelona", and they have already "reached an agreement" for his loan until the end of the 2024/25 season.

The English forward's salary is 18 million euros per year, meaning "Barcelona" will need to cover 9 million euros. Inside the club's structure, there is hope they can "reach an agreement with "Manchester United" to reduce their player wage expenses.

The "Barcelona" club intends to free up space in the payroll by launching an "exit operation", in which Ansu Fati is "reluctantly included". The one most likely to leave was named Eric Garcia. In his case, it may involve returning to "Girona", where he spent last season on loan, but this time, possibly, the transition will be permanent.

All of this can help "Barcelona" gather the necessary 10 million euros to sign Rashford. Also, "Manchester United" is looking to raise funds before investing in the team, as Amorim yearns for new acquisitions.
