Juan Mata Becomes Co-Owner of MLS Club San Diego

Famed player and world championship winner Juan Mata has become a co-owner of the San Diego club in the MLS, turning the sports project in the heart of California.

Midfielder of the Australian team «Western Sydney Wanderers», Juan Mata, is now a co-owner of the MLS team «San Diego». This event marks him as the first active player to own a stake in an MLS club.

«I’m thrilled to join the San Diego project. It's an opportunity to be part of something special in a city that is experiencing tremendous growth. I look forward to sharing my expertise and passion for the sport to build a team that inspires both on and off the field», Mata shared.

Previously, Mata played for «Valencia», the English clubs «Chelsea» and «Manchester United», Turkish «Galatasaray», as well as Japanese «Vissel Kobe». He was a winner of both the Champions League and the Europa League and played in the Spanish national team, with which he won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.
