According to sources close to the player, Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta, and Manchester United made efforts by offering highly attractive terms, which could have convinced many outstanding footballers. However, the Swedish national forward clearly indicated that his aspirations are towards something greater than what the English giants proposed.
