Kazakhstan National Team Coach Cherchesov Comments on Journalist Incident

Stanislav Cherchesov explained the situation

Stanislav Cherchesov explained the situation with the media representative after the UEFA Nations League game against «Slovenia», addressing language issues.

The head coach of Kazakhstan's national team, Stanislav Cherchesov, shared his thoughts on the incident with a journalist during the press conference after the UEFA Nations League match against «Slovenia» (0:1).

Kazakhstani media representatives were persistent and did not see any reason for Cherchesov's dismissal. He noted that he is the first one who wants the team to win. When asked about emotions concerning the Kazakh language, he responded that he saw no grounds for such discussions. 'There was no resentment or inappropriate reaction from me,' he assured.

A funny episode occurred when a correspondent in a «PSG» jersey asked the first question. Cherchesov joked but was misunderstood. Although he did not deem it necessary to apologize, he stressed that he said nothing inappropriate.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan requested explanations from the federation regarding the incident and had a dialogue with Cherchesov about the necessity of respecting the state language.

On November 17, Cherchesov's team suffered its fifth defeat in the Nations League, losing to «Norway» with a score of 0:5. This led to last place in Group 3 of League B, and the team lost its chance to retain a league spot.
