LA Galaxy Celebrate MLS Cup 2024 Victory After Defeating "New York Red Bulls"

"LA Galaxy" claimed the MLS

"LA Galaxy" claimed the MLS Cup 2024 title, defeating the "New York Red Bulls" with a score of 2-1 in front of a packed stadium.

CARSON, Calif. -- The "LA Galaxy" emerged as the MLS Champions for 2024, defeating the "New York Red Bulls" 2-1 on Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park in front of a sellout crowd of 26,812. This marked their sixth MLS Cup victory.

Returning to the apex of MLS after an outstanding playoff run, the "Galaxy" overtook "Colorado Rapids", "Minnesota United FC", "Seattle Sounders", and ultimately, "RBNY". Guided by their remarkable midfielder Riqui Puig throughout the playoffs, the "Galaxy" played the championship match missing their ex-Barcelona star due to an ACL tear in the Conference Final, making their Saturday triumph even more extraordinary.

Goals from winger Joseph Paintsil and striker Dejan Joveljic secured the win, while midfielder Gaston Brugman earned the title of MLS Cup MVP, stepping into Puig's role in the starting lineup against the "Red Bulls".

For the visitors, it was a disappointing display from the "RBNY" defense, allowing two goals within the first 13 minutes. They clawed one back through center-back Sean Nealis in the 28th minute but failed to capitalize on numerous attacking opportunities.

It was an opportunity for "RBNY" to capture their first MLS Cup in their 29th season, ending again in disillusionment. We highlight the winners and losers from Dignity Health Sports Park.
