Coach Urges "Simba" to Be Ruthless After 1-0 Win

"Simba" secured a 1-0 victory

"Simba" secured a 1-0 victory over "Bravos" in the CAF Cup, but coach calls for stronger attack.

Simba SC's head coach, Fadlu Davids, has called on his team to be more ruthless in front of goal following their 1-0 triumph over "Bravos" in a Group A TotalEnergies CAF Confederations Cup fixture held in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, November 27th. The Tanzanian giants are currently in a rich vein of form in the Tanzanian Premier League, where they sit atop the table under the newly appointed Davids. This form has continued in their continental endeavors, seeing them narrowly overcome their Angolan visitors with a scoreline that Davids believes could have ended with a more significant margin. Simba’s dominance and opportunities in front of goal do not truly reflect the actual result, according to Davids, who emphasized the need for the team to enhance their performance despite achieving the result.

"We could have increased our goal tally, but securing three points gives us satisfaction from the opening match at this stage. We wanted more control of the game after the break like in the opening 45 minutes, but our opponents improved considerably. I'm pleased with the team’s performance. We need to improve as we progress in the competition because it will only get tougher," said the South African coach.

On the other hand, "Bravos", who showed marked improvement towards the closing stages of the match, will look to build from their late improvements in their remaining group matches. Speaking after the defeat, "Bravos" coach Mario Soares acknowledged the team's significant improvement in the second half but admitted they were not on the same level as the hosts on the day.

"We faced a very challenging team. We got a chance for the equalizer after making tactical strides in the second half. These improvements allowed us to manage the game and even disrupt "Simba’s" play, which posed many problems for us in the first half," Soares remarked.

Both sides will be back in action in Match Day 02 of the Group Stages next weekend when "Simba" travels north to face Algeria’s "FC Constantine", who edged "SF Sfaxien" 1-0 on Tuesday, while "Bravos" will face the wounded "Sfaxien" in Angola.
