Why Russians Lag Behind in Speed on the Field: Thoughts of Stanislav Cherchesov

Stanislav Cherchesov shared his thoughts

Stanislav Cherchesov shared his thoughts on the differences between Russian and European playing speeds. He attended a match between CSKA and Rostov and noted significant speed differences.

The head coach of the Kazakhstan national team, Stanislav Cherchesov, shared his thoughts on why the Russian team lags behind its European counterparts in terms of playing speed.

After attending the 16th round of the Russian Premier League between CSKA and Rostov, the coach pointed out how much slower the Russian players are compared to their European peers, especially in transitions from defense to attack.

"Our players' speed is significantly lower. Without considering individual skills, losing the ball on the opponent's half, it takes just five seconds before the ball is in your own net," Cherchesov emphasized.

Recall that the Kazakhstan team, led by Cherchesov, completed the UEFA Nations League group stage without earning points or scoring goals in the opponents' nets.
