Vasiliy Berezutskiy briefly became the center of attention in Shanghai, being mistaken for a famous tennis player.

Azerbaijan's "Sabah" coach Vasiliy Berezutskiy shared an amusing story about how he was mistaken for the famous tennis player Jannik Sinner during his stay in China. From January to November 2024, Berezutskiy was part of Leonid Slutskiy's coaching team at the Chinese club "Shanghai Shenhua".

In October, a prestigious "Masters" series tennis tournament was held in Shanghai, featuring Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, who was at the top of the world rankings. Sinner won the tournament, overcoming Novak Djokovic in the final.

Vasiliy Berezutskiy said, "Slutskiy and I stayed in the same hotel as the tennis players. One day, I went outside in tennis gear with a 'Wilson' racket and bag. I looked like a real tennis player! Fans were cheering and taking photos. Security approached me and escorted me to the elevator. I walked about a hundred meters as Sinner. It was hilarious."

Former "CSKA" footballer Vasiliy Berezutskiy concluded his playing career after 376 matches for the club over 16 years (2002-2018). He now holds a coaching position.
